Eastleigh will be looking for a positive result against Barrow following on from last weekend’s loss to table-toppers Dover Athletic.

The Spitfires have never lost at home against The Ziggers with a Sam Togwell screamer and Matt Tubbs tap-in sealing a 2-0 victory in this fixture last year.

Eastleigh legend Paul Reid made his return to the Silverlake at the heart of the defence and inspired a three-game win streak after the boys in blue had endured a torrid winter.

Ben Strevens is optimistic about Eastleigh’s chances this time around.

“The squad’s looking strong and we’ve worked on a few things over the last couple of weeks – identified the last four goals we’ve conceded have been from set pieces and worked on that to put that right.

The boys have trained really well all week and we’re looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

History Books:

The first time these two sides clashed was back in 2009 in the FA Cup where the Spitfires fell to a last-minute winner from Jason Walker.

Since then, the distance between the two clubs has proved the difference with neither side ever winning away at the other.

Last time at Holker Street the Spitfires were live on BT Sport, after the travelling Spitfires made the 612-mile round trip for a 12:45 kick off! It wasn’t to be the perfect away day as the boys in blue ended the game with ten men and four goals shipped.

Meet the Opposition:

Ady Pennock brings his Barrow side to the Silverlake on the back of four defeats in five as they sit 21st in the National League table. After finishing seventh last season the Bluebirds have struggled to recreate the early season form that saw them as one of the previous campaign’s high-flyers.

Ex-Norwich striker Grant Holt has recently re-signed for the Ziggers after originally playing for them in 2001 – the target man rejoined on 9th November after a spell with King’s Lynn Town.
