ABOUT THE scholarship

The Scholarship programme is a 2/3-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and Non-League Football Clubs. Open to talented footballers aged between 16–19 years, the Scholarship Programme is a must for any football enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.

Why join the scholarship?

Eastleigh Football Club’s Scholarship has been running for 6 years with the simple aim of helping talented footballers make progress in their sporting careers whilst continuing with their academic studies.
The scheme enables young players to enjoy 6 hours of coaching by UEFA qualified coaches and competitive fixtures alongside their academic studies. Eastleigh FC have teams in the National Youth Alliance, The Tactic Premier Leagueas well as the prestigious FA Youth Cup.
The club have a history of producing young talented footballers; Brett Williams (Reading FC), Aaron Martin (Southampton FC) and Will Aimson (Hull City) have all gone to join football league clubs. The current first team squad has a host of young players who train full time. Along with a number of players making a career out of football, a number of players have gone on to be successful of the pitch.

Where is the scholarship?


The Football Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for players to train and study in an environment that will develop their academic and sporting performance.
The Football development programme and Academic studies will be based at Eastleigh FC, Silverlake Stadium,Ten Acres, Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh,Hampshire SO50 9HT. Here players will benefit from an excellent range of training facilities including grass and all-weather pictures along with a on-site and a dedicated classroom for academic studies.

What will I study?

Over the 2/3-year duration, players will study a variety of National Recognised Qualifications within the subject of Sport, Coaching & Fitness. Players will study the Diploma in Sport Level 3 (A-Level equivalence), with core skills in Maths and English. Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected Universities and employment opportunities within the Sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.

Who will deliver the education?

The club have linked with Virtual Learning UK, a Further Education and Work Based Training Provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Scholarship. Virtual Learning UK currently work in partnership with many Sixth Form Schools, Further Education Colleges and Football Academies across the country.

What are the costs?

Both the Football and Educational element of the Scholarship is fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into the Football Scholarship.
