ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Football Academy is a 2-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and Non-League Football Clubs. Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Academy Programme is a must for any football enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.

Why join the academy?

Eastleigh Football Club’s Academy has been running for 6 years with the simple aim of helping talented footballers make progress in their sporting careers whilst continuing with their academic studies.
The scheme enables young players to enjoy 6 hours of coaching by UEFA qualified coaches and competitive fixtures alongside their academic studies. Eastleigh FC have teams in the Conference Youth Alliance, Hampshire Youth League, Southampton Youth League as well as the prestigious FA Youth Cup.
The club have a history of producing young talented footballers; Brett Williams (Reading FC), Aaron Martin (Southampton FC), Will Aimson (Hull City)and Josh Helm (Swindon Town FC) have all gone to join football league clubs. The current first team squad has a host of young players who train full time.

Who runs the academy?

Lee Peacock – Retired from playing regularly in July 2013 to concentrate on his career in youth development.
Lee himself was a striker who has played for Carlisle United, Mansfield Town, Manchester City, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town and Grimsby Town. Lee is a holder of the prestigious UEFA A Licence.

Where is the academy?

The Football Academy offers a unique opportunity for players to train and study in an environment that will develop their academic and sporting performance.
The Football development programme and Academic studies will be based at Eastleigh FC, Silverlake Stadium,Ten Acres, Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh,Hampshire SO50 9HT. Here players will benefit from an excellent range of training facilities and a dedicated classroom for academic studies.

What will I study?

Over the 2-year duration, players will study a variety of National Recognised Qualifications within the subject of Sport, Coaching & Fitness. Players will study the Diploma in Sport Level 3 (A-Level equivalence), FA Coaching Qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English. Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected Universities and employment opportunities within the Sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.

Who will deliver the education?

The club have linked with Virtual Learning UK, a Further Education and Work Based Training Provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Academy. Virtual Learning UK currently work in partnership with many Sixth Form Schools, Further Education Colleges and Football Academies across the country.

What are the costs?

Both the Football and Educational element of the Academy is fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into the Football Academy.
